Membership Benefits

You are invited to join us at a Tuesday evening meeting to see what we are all about, and to find out if you want to be a member.  Although we are called the ‘Newfoundland Horticultural Society’, we are amateur gardeners who share in common a love of growing plants.  New members are always welcome.  An individual or family membership is just $20 per year.

 We meet the first Tuesday of each month at 8:00 pm in St. David’s Church Hall, 98 Elizabeth Avenue, St. John’s (except for December, January, July, and August).

 Benefits and Opportunities:

  • Monthly meetings with speakers on varied gardening topics and trends

  • Informative monthly Down-to-Earth newsletters

  • Gardening workshops ranging from seed starting to pruning shrubs

  • ‘Bring & Buy’ plant sales with climate-hardy, and often unique plants from members gardens

  • Visits to private gardens, and to do gardening field trips

  • Join the NHS ‘Floral Design Group’ for floral art projects

  • Join the NHS ‘John Cabot Rose Group’ for rose related activities (Currently Inactive)

  • Participate and exhibit yearly in two NHS flower shows

  • Occasional community gardening projects

  • Share gardening ideas, and receive help with gardening problems from experienced gardeners

  • Meet other gardeners over refreshments at our meetings

  • Annual General Meeting/Christmas Social

  • Opportunities to help and to serve on committees
